"Artist's Life," 2010, Joshua Abelow

Artist's Life
04/2010 Joshua Abelow

Certain days I wake up
and think, "Gee, I'd like to
draw a drawing today."
Then I make some.
Other days I wake up
and say to myself, "I'd
like to paint a few paintings
with Cadmium Yellow."
So I look for the tube and
get to work. Some days
I wake up with a little
poem stuck on my eyelids
so I sit down with the
tweezers and and I pluck it
out. At times I wake up
with nothing but my dog
and a hangover. When this
happens I lay around with
a book or I go to the movies.
Or I toss the ball around
with Georgia at the park
and wait for it to get dark.
